You weren't made to sleep disconnected from the Earth
For hundreds of thousands of years, humans slept on the ground. Walked barefoot. Rested against the Earth. Their bodies were in constant electrical contact with the planet they lived on.
Then we built raised beds. Insulated floors. Rubber-soled shoes. Most people today haven't had skin contact with real soil in weeks — sometimes months.
Your body was not designed for this level of disconnection. And the research is showing it.
Sleep the way your body remembers
The Erthy grounding sheet lays across your mattress. A cord connects it through your window to an Earth rod pushed into the soil outside.
The rod is in the ground. The cord connects to the sheet. The sheet is under your fitted sheet. You sleep on top.
For eight hours every night, your body is in contact with a surface physically connected to the Earth.

Grounded sleep research
There’s a reason grounded sleep feels different
Sleep & Cortisol
Grounded subjects showed normalized night-time cortisol and measurably improved sleep quality compared to controls.
Journal of Alternative & Complementary Medicine
Inflammation Markers
Grounded subjects showed significant reductions in inflammatory markers. The free-electron mechanism is consistent with basic biochemistry.
Journal of Alternative & Complementary Medicine
Autonomic Nervous System
Grounding shifted the ANS toward parasympathetic dominance — the rest-and-repair mode required for deep sleep.
European Biology and Bioelectromagnetics
Infrared thermal imaging before and after grounding
Infrared thermography has been used in grounding research to observe visible changes in skin temperature, circulation patterns, and inflammation-related areas before and after grounding exposure.
Most grounding sheets plug into the wall. Erthy goes straight to the soil.
A grounded wall outlet is connected to a rod buried near your building's foundation — so yes, it is a real ground. But the signal travels through your building's entire electrical network first. Every circuit. Every appliance. Every neighbor's load on the same grid.
That network carries electrical noise on the ground line. When you're sleeping on something connected to it every single night, that matters.
An outdoor Earth rod bypasses all of that. The rod is in the soil. The cord runs directly to your sheet. Nothing between you and the Earth but the cord itself. No electrical interference. No building wiring. The original connection.
This is why we built Erthy - to get back to true, unadulterated connection with the Earth.
Outlet
(~10 min once)
Yes, there's a cord. That's the point.
It runs from your bed, through your window, into the ground outside. It's approximately 1.5mm thin — noticeably thinner than a standard iPhone cable. In most windows it rests in the bottom gap and the window closes to about 99% shut.
For screened windows, a 3mm hole at the bottom of the screen lets the cord pass through cleanly. Takes 30 seconds. Barely visible. Most people say they forget it's there within a week.
That cord is not an inconvenience. It's physical evidence that your bed is connected to real soil every night — not to a wall socket, not to a building's wiring, but to the Earth itself.
We could have built a product that only plugs into the wall. We chose not to.
1.
Lay the sheet
Place the grounding sheet horizontally across your mattress at the shoulder-to-hip zone — wherever your body maintains the most sleep contact.
2.
Place your fitted sheet on top
Thin cotton or linen works best. Avoid thick synthetics, waterproof layers, or padded toppers between your body and the sheet.
3.
Connect the cord
Snap the 15 ft cord to the sheet connector. The cord's other end connects to the outdoor Earth rod cord, or into the ground in your wall outlet.
4.
Route through the window
Rest the 40 ft outdoor cord in the bottom gap of your nearest window. The cord is ~1.5mm thin and the window closes almost fully over it. For screened windows: a 3mm hole at the base of the screen — 30 seconds, barely visible.
5.
Place the rod in soil
Push the Earth rod all the way into moist soil outside.
(Avoid placing near outdoor electrical boxes, buried cable areas, or heavy utility lines.)
6.
Sleep grounded
Come back inside. Get into bed. The connection is live. Your body is in contact with the Earth. Every night after this, you don't have to do anything.
What happens when you connect.

How It Works
How It Works
The grounding sheet lays across your mattress under your fitted sheet. A 15 ft cord with a snap connector links the sheet to the 40 ft outdoor Earth rod cord. That cord runs through your window gap to the Earth rod in the soil outside. While you sleep, your body is in contact with a conductive surface physically connected to real Earth. Total setup time: approximately 10 minutes on the first night.

Fit Guide
Fit Guide
One size fits Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and California King. The sheet lays horizontally across the mattress as a targeted grounding zone — not a full fitted sheet. Place it at the shoulder-to-hip zone where your body maintains the most contact during sleep.
Care Instructions
Care Instructions
Machine wash cold, gentle cycle. Air dry or tumble dry low. Do not bleach. Do not use fabric softener — it coats the silver fibers and reduces conductivity. Store loosely folded when not in use.
Safety Notes
Safety Notes
The Erthy cord includes a built-in 100kΩ current-limiting safety resistor — standard across grounding products and home electrical systems.
Rain and normal outdoor weather are completely fine. The rod and cord are designed to stay connected through everyday conditions.
During a lightning storm, we recommend unplugging the cord at the sheet until it passes — the same simple precaution you'd take with any grounded electronics in your home. It takes a few seconds to reconnect after.
When placing the rod, keep it away from buried utility lines, electrical boxes, and irrigation controllers.
